In our country and in similar geographies, religion often takes precedence over education within the social structure. The phrase “God forbid” encapsulates an attitude of resignation: accepting whatever happens, failing to take precautions, being unable to demand one’s rights, and even being unable to acknowledge that seeking justice is itself a right.
