Nature Will Take Its Course, 2016, glass tube, water, 150 x 27 x 7 cm

Humankind is a species that advances without leaving anything behind, through the flawless practice of destruction it has devised. What the fate of this species will be, and what kind of life it will construct in what kind of world, are questions I often contemplate.

The only salvation for humanity—which destroys whatever is unlike itself, tolerates neither different beliefs nor different ways of life, and advances with a perspective devoid of empathy—is to transform into a vast organism made up of identical beings. Only then will it attain the way of life most suited to itself. Once there are no women, children, nature, animals, beliefs or races left to destroy, it will have created its ideal world.

The struggles waged against countless wars, political agendas and massacres remain ineffective in the face of this barbarity. The world continues to turn without a subject, and fear is everywhere. Within these dystopian scenarios, salvation lies in the hope that one day things will improve again. Although, in the face of our fears and helplessness, there appears to be no alternative but to say “water finds its way,” carrying our hope with us, this silent outcry embodies our expectations for the future.
